Amazon Reveals PRIME VIDEO’s Multibillion-Dollar Revenue Scale
Amazon's latest earnings discussion reveals the scale of its streaming operation, while leaving crucial profitability questions unanswered.
Amazon is offering a clearer picture of just how big PRIME VIDEO has become, even if the company is still keeping some of the most important numbers to itself.
During Amazon’s October 29 third-quarter earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy described PRIME VIDEO as a business with an annualized revenue run rate measured in the tens of billions of dollars. That is a statement about its current pace of revenue, not a disclosed full-year total or a precise standalone profit figure.
Amazon’s broader quarterly results put companywide sales at $201.9 billion, up 12 percent from the previous year. Its entertainment operation is also spanning more kinds of programming and revenue: subscription viewing, advertising, live sports, television originals and theatrical filmmaking.
The company says THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL averaged 17.7 million viewers for its first six games of the season.

Amazon also cites 66 million worldwide viewers for REACHER Season 4 in its first 28 days. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited figures in this brief.
The bigger story is how far PRIME VIDEO has moved beyond being an extra feature included with an Amazon membership. It now operates at the financial scale of a major entertainment company.
What Amazon still doesn’t provide is the breakdown needed to compare the service’s costs and margins directly with Netflix or other streaming competitors.
