1. Who we are

KazooWatch is an entertainment discovery and recommendation service operated by Mark Gold d/b/a Malakaztudios.

This Privacy Policy explains how KazooWatch collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit the website, create or access an account, build a Kazoo profile, receive recommendations, join the email list, submit a form, or otherwise interact with the service.

For purposes of applicable privacy laws, Mark Gold d/b/a Malakaztudios is the operator of KazooWatch and, where those terms apply, the controller or business responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

Account and Google Sign-In information

When you use Google Sign-In, KazooWatch receives the basic information needed to create or restore your WordPress account and authenticated session. Depending on the information available through your Google account and the permissions granted, this may include:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • a Google account identifier;
  • basic profile information associated with authentication.

Kazoo profile and preference information

When you complete KazooWatch onboarding or use related account features, we may store information you voluntarily provide, including:

  • streaming-service preferences;
  • rental or purchase preferences;
  • movies or shows you like or dislike;
  • experience preferences and subjects that interest you;
  • soft or hard content avoidances;
  • profile-completion information;
  • ratings, reviews, saved items, or other account activity.

This information is used to operate your Kazoo profile and provide entertainment recommendations and related KazooWatch features.

Email signup information

When you join the KazooWatch Early Access list or another KazooWatch email list, we collect your email address and any other information you voluntarily submit through the signup form. Email subscriptions are processed using Hostinger Reach.

Forms, suggestions, and communications

When you contact us, suggest a title, submit a form, or communicate with KazooWatch, we collect the information you enter and any related correspondence needed to review or respond to your request.

Technical and security information

The website, hosting platform, authentication tools, and security systems may process technical information such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser, device, and operating-system information;
  • requested pages and referring pages;
  • timestamps and session information;
  • login, authentication, error, and security events;
  • cookie and consent choices.

Analytics information

When statistics consent is granted, KazooWatch may collect analytics about website use, content views, search and filter interactions, product features, onboarding progress, outbound interactions, and similar technical events.

KazooWatch custom analytics events are designed not to include your name, email address, Google account identifier, WordPress user ID, free-text search query, selected titles, preference selections, content avoidances, or saved Kazoo profile contents.

3. Sources of information

We obtain information:

  • directly from you when you create an account, complete onboarding, join an email list, or submit information;
  • from Google when you choose Google Sign-In;
  • automatically from your browser, device, cookies, consent choices, and interactions with the service;
  • from hosting, authentication, analytics, email, and security providers that help operate KazooWatch.

4. How Google user data is handled

KazooWatch uses Google Sign-In only to create or restore your KazooWatch account and authenticated session.

Access: KazooWatch accesses only the basic Google account information made available for authentication and knowingly authorized through the Google Sign-In process.

Use: Google user data is used to identify your KazooWatch account, create or restore your session, provide account features, protect account security, and respond to account-related requests.

Storage: Information needed to maintain your KazooWatch account may be stored in your WordPress account record and associated authentication metadata.

Sharing: Google user data is disclosed only to software and service providers needed to operate authentication, account access, hosting, security, and the user-facing KazooWatch service, or when disclosure is legally required.

Deletion: You may request deletion of your KazooWatch account and associated Google Sign-In information through our Contact page or by emailing mark@malakaztudios.com. Deleting a KazooWatch account does not delete your Google account.

KazooWatch does not use Google user data for data-broker services, credit or eligibility decisions, cross-context behavioral advertising, or training generalized artificial-intelligence models. Google Sign-In identity information is not copied into KazooWatch custom analytics events.

5. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create and maintain accounts and authenticated sessions;
  • save and restore Kazoo profiles;
  • provide recommendations and personalized product features;
  • operate Early Access and email communications;
  • process title suggestions and other submissions;
  • respond to questions, requests, and support needs;
  • understand and improve website and product performance;
  • detect abuse, protect accounts, and maintain security;
  • debug errors and preserve service reliability;
  • enforce our Terms and Conditions;
  • meet applicable administrative or legal obligations.

6. Legal bases for processing

Where a law such as the GDPR or UK GDPR requires a legal basis, KazooWatch relies on one or more of the following:

  • Performance of a service or steps taken at your request: to create an account, authenticate you, save your profile, provide recommendations, and deliver features you request.
  • Consent: for optional statistics, non-essential cookies, and marketing-email subscriptions where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent misuse, respond to requests, maintain records, diagnose errors, and improve KazooWatch, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligations: where information must be retained, disclosed, or processed to comply with applicable law.

7. Recommendations and automated processing

KazooWatch uses saved preferences and account activity to generate entertainment recommendations and personalize product features.

These recommendations concern entertainment choices. They are not used to make decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects concerning employment, housing, credit, insurance, education, healthcare, or access to essential services.

8. Analytics, cookies, and consent

KazooWatch uses Google Site Kit as the owner of the website’s Google analytics tag. KazooWatch does not install a second Google Analytics loader.

Complianz and WP Consent API provide the consent interface and consent-state connection used by the website and its analytics tools.

The accepted custom-analytics behavior is:

  • before a statistics choice is made, KazooWatch custom analytics events remain disabled;
  • accepting statistics enables eligible custom analytics events;
  • withdrawing or managing statistics consent pauses those events;
  • accepting statistics again restores eligible events.

KazooWatch may retrieve and store aggregate analytics reports for internal product and content reporting. These reports are intended to contain aggregate event information rather than individual account identities or saved Kazoo profile contents.

You may change or withdraw your consent using the Manage Consent control provided on the website.

9. Email communications

If you join a KazooWatch email list, we may send Early Access updates, launch information, newsletters, or related KazooWatch communications.

You may unsubscribe using the unsubscribe method included in a marketing email or by contacting us. Account, security, support, or other service-related messages may still be sent when necessary to provide or protect your account.

10. When information is shared

Information may be processed by software and service providers that help operate KazooWatch, including:

  • Hostinger for website hosting and Hostinger Reach email services;
  • WordPress software and associated website infrastructure;
  • Google for Google Sign-In, Site Kit, and consented analytics;
  • Nextend Social Login for the Google authentication connection;
  • Complianz and WP Consent API for consent management;
  • form, security, delivery, backup, or communication services used to operate the website.

These providers may process information under their own terms, privacy policies, and data-processing arrangements.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request;
  • protect KazooWatch, Malakaztudios, users, or other people;
  • investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms;
  • complete a business reorganization, transfer, or similar transaction, subject to applicable safeguards.

KazooWatch does not sell Google user data. KazooWatch does not knowingly sell personal information for money and does not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

11. International processing

KazooWatch is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers, infrastructure, or support operations are located.

Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live. Where applicable law requires transfer safeguards, we use or rely on appropriate safeguards made available through our service providers, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent lawful mechanisms.

12. How long we retain information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to legal, security, operational, and provider requirements.

Our retention criteria include:

  • Account and Kazoo profile information: retained while the account remains active or until account deletion is requested, except where limited information must be retained for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal obligations, or backup integrity.
  • Google Sign-In information: retained while needed to operate the connected KazooWatch account and removed or de-associated when account deletion is completed, subject to lawful retention needs and ordinary backup expiration.
  • Email-list information: retained while you remain subscribed. After an unsubscribe request, a minimal suppression record may be retained when needed to prevent additional marketing messages.
  • Forms and correspondence: retained until the request is resolved and afterward when reasonably necessary for support history, security, dispute resolution, or legal recordkeeping.
  • Technical and security logs: retained according to operational, security, hosting, and provider settings and deleted or overwritten when no longer reasonably necessary.
  • Analytics information: retained according to the configured analytics-property and provider settings. Aggregate internal reports may be retained for historical comparison when they are not linked to an identifiable KazooWatch account.
  • Backups: deleted information may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups are overwritten or expire through the ordinary backup cycle.

13. Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal information is processed;
  • request access to or a copy of your personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of personal information;
  • request restriction of certain processing;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already completed lawfully;
  • opt out of marketing email;
  • receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right;
  • complain to an appropriate privacy or data-protection authority.

Some rights apply only when statutory jurisdictional or business thresholds are met. We will honor requests to the extent required by applicable law and may voluntarily honor additional reasonable requests.

We may need to verify your identity before granting access, correcting information, or deleting an account. We may retain limited information needed to document and complete a request.

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, destruction, or loss.

These measures may include restricted administrative access, authenticated account controls, consent controls, private credential storage, software updates, backups, logging, and service-provider security protections.

No internet transmission, website, or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

15. Children

KazooWatch is not specifically directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13.

A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information may contact us to request review or deletion.

16. External content and links

KazooWatch may display or link to videos, availability information, streaming providers, entertainment databases, social platforms, or other external services.

Your interaction with an external website or service is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy practices. KazooWatch is not responsible for the privacy practices of external services.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when KazooWatch features, providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.

The latest revision date will appear at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, account interface, or email when appropriate.
