Ben Wang Reportedly in Talks to Play Iceman in X-MEN
The KARATE KID: LEGENDS actor has been linked to the Marvel reboot, but no completed casting agreement has been announced.
Ben Wang is reportedly in talks to play Bobby Drake, better known as Iceman, in Marvel Studios’ forthcoming X-MEN film. Deadline originated the November 2 report, which was subsequently followed by TheWrap.
Wang, known for KARATE KID: LEGENDS and THE LONG WALK, has not been formally announced by Marvel as part of the cast. Negotiations can change, and a potential role should not be presented as a completed agreement.
A Familiar Mutant for a New Film
Iceman was one of the original X-Men introduced in Marvel’s comics in 1963. Including Bobby Drake would connect the new film more directly to the team’s earliest incarnation, though the precise character lineup and plot are still subject to official confirmation.

Jake Schreier is directing the film, which has a currently announced May 2028 theatrical release date. Wang’s reported talks do not change that schedule.
The casting report will matter most if Marvel confirms the deal. Until then, the reliable story is that a recognizable young actor is in negotiations for a major franchise role, not that the role is settled.
