Netflix is changing the leadership responsible for deciding what audiences will watch, with another senior executive departure announced less than a week after a major shakeup.

Film division chief Dan Lin is leaving the streaming company after leading its movie operations since 2024. The departure was first reported by Puck’s Matt Belloni, according to TheWrap’s October 19 coverage.

Netflix subsequently confirmed Lin’s departure to Reuters, which reported that incoming chief content officer Peter Rice will temporarily oversee the film division until a replacement is named.

The news follows Netflix’s October 15 announcement that Bela Bajaria was leaving after nearly a decade. Rice, formerly an executive at Disney and Fox, is scheduled to assume his new role October 26.

For subscribers, the immediate change is behind the scenes. Netflix has a new leadership structure taking shape, but the announcements do not establish whether its upcoming films, production priorities or release schedules will change.

That remains the question worth watching.
