STREET FIGHTER Wins the Box Office, but YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING Delivers a Surprise

Paramount's video-game adaptation takes first place, while Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes documentary earns more than twice as much per theater.

STREET FIGHTER won the October 16–18 weekend box office, but the most interesting numbers might belong to Nathan Fielder.

Paramount’s video-game adaptation opened with approximately $30.8 million across 3,575 North American theaters. Meanwhile, YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, earned $15.6 million on just 855 screens, according to The Numbers’ updated weekend chart.

That works out to approximately $8,608 per theater for STREET FIGHTER compared with $18,247 for YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING. Box Office Mojo also tracks the weekend’s domestic results.

The comparison doesn’t make Fielder’s documentary the bigger overall hit. It does illustrate how much revenue the unconventional film generated from a considerably smaller theatrical footprint.

KazooWatch recently examined the documentary’s troubling questions about performance, manipulation and Elizabeth Holmes in our review of YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING.

For a documentary built around questions of what audiences can believe, the box-office numbers provide one unusually clear result.
